.hack//roots, .hack//G.U. and first impressions (i.e. spoiler free)
For reasons that I never bothered to think over, I was less than impressed with .hack//roots (though I did keep watching it, which is more than I can say about .hack//Legend of Twilight Bracelet). Now, I am a Bee Train fan, and a .hack//sign fan. One of the reasons I bought a PS2 was that maybe the .hack games will include some stuff on the Sign characters after all.
Even as I’m typing this I’m listening to the .hack//liminality OST.
But my lack of Wow-ness at Roots was not (all) about music, as I like ALI Project.
No, when I started on Roots, what was wrong was the characters. I’m not saying I outright disliked them, but compared to Sign, they had no charm, no charisma, no mystery. Haseo’s attitude did nothing to draw me in, the random ex-members saying “let’s meet to talk” and then saying nothing was not mysterious, but annoying, and Ovan was too much of a “Kick ass cryptic character with a big gun” to be compelling. Oh, and Tabby The Silly Busty Catgirl sucked.
Had it been anything but the .hack franchise I wouldn’t have endured through all that for the story to kick in. But kick in it did, and though, again, it was no Sign, I decided to pick up .hack//G.U (Ok, and because I was sick for a long time and I wanted something to cheer me up XD).
.hack//G.U. Rebirth:

Ribbon explosion
There was a time when ribbons were cute. Ok, it was the Nanoha/Fate “to remember me by” exchange that was heart warming, but still.
Lately I’ve noticed more and more ribbons. Check out these few screenshots, all from new series (Gift, BALDR Force Exe Resolution, Lovely Idol, Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru).
Lovely onii-chan theme too. And the loli saying onee-chan is talking to a guy in drag, so it still counts.
1. Freakin’ big ribbon(s).
Lovely Idol has 3 characters that fit this (you can see all of ‘em at 3). Still, the girl in Otome Wa is the winner here: her ribbon is not just huge, it’s also meant to make her look like a bunnygirl. W00t! Moe!

BALDR FORCE EXE Resolution 01
We are off to a good start. A bunch of mecha with odd looking feet fall in an Western movie setting. The camera dutifully spins around them for the classic shoot out scene. Beware the awesome looking weapons of destruction, their funny feet and their nice moves. We find out this all happens in a virtual reality of some sort, the wired district. I can get why the western thing, but…. a children’s clothing shop? Called “Child Kids“? Nice touch there. >.>

Hello world!
Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!
Heh, I’m leaving that as it is. My first post. Good thing I’m not nervous or anything. Yeah. I’ve done this before. In Wordpress. Nevermind that now I have no idea what I’m gonna do next.
Right now I don’t know which series I’ll blog, as I’m a bit late. There’s also the fact that my “currently watching” list is huge and misleading, as I watch little of what I plan to at the start of each season (though I dutifully download the episodes).
I’ll definitely pick something up next season. Long term, a slot is already taken by Nanoha StrikerS, whenever it starts next year. :D I might also blog a bit about Avatar The Last Airbender season 3 which starts in January when it starts, in July 2007 (corrected because I’m an idiot).
