Claymore 3 - Clare in Rome?
Clare gets saddled with another annoying task: infiltrate the Vatican! help lousy humans who don’t want her help (seriously though, The holy city of Rabona = Roma, see if you can tell me otherwise). So she goes undercover. Of course, when you are known as a silver-eyed witch you can’t exactly use a wig and call it a day. As contacts were not invented in this medieval-like world, Clare gets to take pills that supress her Claymore-ness.
Under the pretext of wanting to be baptised, she enters the cathedral and makes contact with her employer, Father Vincent. He calls her for a private meeting at night, despite the curfew.
It is worth noting that at night Clare jumps around in all her glory and her eyes are silver when she meets Father Vincent. Why is it worth noting? Because the murders were all in the Great Cathedral so the Yoma is one of the priests or soldiers. Still, Clare meeting Father Vincent that night is not proof that he is not the Yoma, as she still feels the effect of the pills. (I’m not saying that he is the Yoma, just that Clare can’t decide, despite the silver eyes and the physical abilities.)
Anyway, Father Vincent explains the situation and Clare thinks it will be a hard job. She says her speech about not taking any money and asks him to take care of the boy she has with her, if she dies. When he hesitates, she assures him the noy is “normal”. Father Vincent realizes she is pretty damn close to Christian ideals more selfless than his scared “servant of God” ass, and feels properly shamed.
The scene, btw, is part of the message of this two-part episode. See if you can anticipate it… :D
As she returns to the inn, Clare gets jumped by 2 guards. She defends herself and runs away, but not before they realize she is a woman and managed to escape them unscathed. The scene looks better than the action we had in the first 2 eps.
Of course, the guards make an appearance at the inn, but Clare remembered her pills and her eyes are brown again. The younger, cockier guard thinks, cleverly enough, that it’s possible for one of ‘em witches to change the color of their eyes. Raki makes a big scene that Clare is his kind, pure-hearted sister and people shouldn’t say shit about her. In the end, the guards leave.
Next night Clare goes to investigate the cathedral and is once again jumped by those 2 guards. Her identity is revealed and this time she stays to hand them their asses (of course, that means she just defends herself, as Claymores don’t harm humans). A scream interrupts the fight so Clare rushes to the cathedral.
The Yoma is big and mean and ugly, and it attacks the 2 guards trailing Clare. She defends them, getting injured. Repeatedly. While telling them to run away as they are no match for a Yoma. Finally she gets run through by the Yoma’s spear-like claws. Uhm, yeah, cut to religious imagery, just in case we didn’t get in the “she is a selfless savior” mood yet.
I’m curious how they’re gonna handle next ep, considering that this one followed the manga faithfully but cut at a cliffhanger which is the middle of the 3rd chapter of 7 of the arc.

the anime is not as good as the manga. the anime follows the manga quite closely until the very end. then it veers off and takes a different direction, which is a pile of wank.
until the end 3 episodes it was just as good as the manga
