Subaru conveniently recites the letter to her family. It’s been 2 weeks since she’s been trolling at the6th Mobile Division. My interest quickly fades when we are treated to scenes of her and Tia brushing their teeth. It doesn’t even peak when the camera moves to a tit+loli shot. *yawn*

This reminds me, someone who isn’t watching the series (lucky!) told me I didn’t provide a screenshot of the pet dragon, so here it is, in all its unimpressiveness. Oh, and it has a piercing! Yeah.

Subaru whines that Nanoha is playing hard to get. Uhm, wait, no. She whines that Nanoha’s training is difficult and that she is on guard 24 hrs/day. (When does she sleep?)
“Show, don’t tell” factor: -10 points.

Episode 4: First Alert.

Another training session, which they skip, thankfully. Everyone looks beaten and dirty. But wait, why is the dragon dirty too? How did dirt get on it? Were they in a mud fight or sth? Nevermind that because finally Nanoha shoots them! Way to go! Get ‘em, Nanoha-chan!

She is to shoot for 5 minute and they need to evade (this painfully reminds me of a Jade Empire arena fight that I struggled to clear earlier) and get a shot on her. The n00bs plan to strike her down ASAP. I knew it! Get ‘em, Nanoha-chan!

Tia creates illusions to distract Nanoha, then Subaru attacks. She falls after Nanoha defends and Raising Heart’s Pink Balls of D00m home in on her. How is it that she can out run them? And for long enough for Tia to chat, reload the gun (which jammed. yeah.) and shoot. Wtf?

Btw, in this scene the guy looks like a Nanoha/Fate love child - pinkish glow for the weapon, yellow circle beneath.

The boy scratches Nanoha so they complete the mission and feel very happy. Yay. I feel no happiness at all. 9 minutes in and all Nanoha’s lines were about the training.

Minute 9 Fate and Hayate drive in. Yeah! Fate has a killa car. She also apologizes for not taking care of the n00bs in her care. Wow, I guess this is supposed to be character development. lol. Nanoha asks Fate and Hayate where they are going out. I’m still confused if this is a threesome or not.

New character time!
Paladin of the St Monarch Church Knights + director of the Administration Bureau’s HQ, Carim Gracia. Must be a busy chick. Fate never met her, but Hayate has known her for 8 years and thinks of her as an older sister.

Btw, Fate’s voice is made of win.
Other than that…

Shower scene! Complete with boobs and loli.
Eyecatch with the youngest 2 n00bs.
Annoyance: +50 points

The church and its people have an inexplicably medieval look.

I like Carim’s line. Or maybe I just have a dirty mind while watching this because I am so bored.

But wait, minute 14… could it be… plot?! O.o

New cases are imminent and the new devices for the n00bs are done. A lenghty explanation by Shari follows. My only comment: “Think of it as levelling up together” indeed.

We also find out that the Bureau is communist.
No, really.
To make people happy every unit should be equal, so Nanoha, Fate, Hayate, Signum and Vita have limits to their abilities. This sounds incredibly lame to me. Hayate is a double S, she was dropped 4 ranks to A level and Rein says “Hayate-chan has it tough with many things”. Wtf? Nanoha, who is S+ is 2 rans down to AA, that’s why she can’t just blast the n00bs into oblivion. Furthermore, to remove the limiters they have to get permission from their superior (The Captains from Hayate, Hayate from Carim and Carim from Chrono) and the permission is not easy to get. You know, I think I’m gonna be against the Bureau when the plot kicks in!
“Readiness for action” factor: -50 points.
Annoyance: +200 points.

Finally the episode gets back to its title: the first alert blips and flashes.
But wait… that’s it. Uhm, yeah.
